Sarawak has the largest amount of
rainforest than any state in Malaysia and is known to international
visitors primarily because of the extraordinary natural wonders of its
national parks

Sarawak has various national parks located throughout the State. These
parks which within reach from Miri, Bintulu and Kuching offer visitors an
excellent collection of flora and fauna. They contain abundant wildlife,
lakes, waterfalls, exotic plant species, secluded beaches and jungle
treks.

Within reach from Miri, is the Mulu National Park with its world-famous
caving network, while the oldest known modern human remains discovered in
South East Asia is found in the Niah Caves National Park, making this park
one of the most important archaeological sites in the world. Other
national parks nearby Miri include Loagan Bunut National Park and Lambir
Hills National Park.
Situated about 30km from Bintulu Town is the Similajau National Park.With
easy within reach from the capital Kuching is the Kubah, Bako, and the
Gunung Gading National Park. Further out on the south-western coast is the
Tulanag Satang National Park for marine turtles and on the eastern
boundaries of the state is the Batang Ai National Park.

Bako National Park
Just 37Km from Kuching, Sarawak's oldest national park is home to the rare
proboscis monkey. It is an ideal introduction to what the State has to
offer.
Kubah National Park
Located about 20 kilometres from Kuching it is one of Sarawak's most
accessible national parks and consists largely of undisturbed natural
forest and is home to a variety of wildlife.
Gunung Gading National Park
120 km from Kuching on the N. West coast of Kuching, Gunung Gading
National Park is a beautiful expanse of mountainous rainforest is known

Tulang Satang National Park
Also known as Tulang Satang Turtle park comprises four islands on the
south-western coast of Sarawak, was established to conserve the marine
turtle population in Sarawak. Of the four islands, Pulau Satang Besar is
open to visitors during the peak turtle-nesting season from April to
September.
Batang Ai National Park
The Park is located about 250 km from Kuching City. While the journey is
long and not cheap, visiting the Park is best done as an organized
package.
Travel by boat up the rivers that flow into the lake or trek on the jungle

A 30 minutes flight away from Miri, Gunung Mulu National Park is the
largest and the crown jewel of Sarawak�s national parks. Its 15 different
types of forest contains a wealth of wildlife and thousands of species of

spectacular cave systems in the world.

Niah National Park
A two-hour drive from Miri or Bintulu, Though it is one of Sarawak's
smaller national parks, within which is important archaeological sites in
the world - Niah caves known as one of the birthplaces of civilisation in
the region.
Lambir Hills National Park
Just 30 minutes drive away from Miri, it is known to be the world's most
bio-diverse forest. Lambir Hills is home to more than 1,000 species of
trees. There are plants and insects here that have not yet been discovered
as well as waterfalls and bathing pools for a quick dip
Loagan Bunut National Park
Lying 130km away from Miri, the incredible shrinking lake is the centre
piece of this park. Called Loagan Bunut by the local Berawan people, is
the Sarawak's largest natural lake, where in the dry months, the lake
shrinks to great expanses of dry mud flats.
