The most significant feature of
Negeri Sembilan is the influence of the Minangkabaus from Sumatra in
Indonesia. This influence is seen in the buffalo-horned shaped roofs of
the many buildings and the practice of matrilineal system in many
households. Negeri Sembilan's capital city is Seremban, a mere 50
kilometres away from the nations capital of Kuala Lumpur. Port
Dickson and its beaches is a well known and popular seaside getaway
Negeri Sembilan, translated literally as "nine states", is so called
because it once consisted of nine separate districts, each ruled by a
Malay chieftain.

villages and lush forests coupled with splendid waterfalls, clear
streams, and rivers make NS ideal for agricultural and eco-tourism.
Places of interest include the Sri Menanti Royal Museum, a wooden
structure built without nails or screws and the picturesque Lake
Gardens. The Ulu Bendol Recreational Park at the foot of Angsi Hill
offers eco-tourism activities, while Port Dickson while the Blue Lagoon
are popular for beach and water pursuits. Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado)
with its lighthouse is famous as a, sanctuary for migratory birds, and
on a clear day, one can see Sumatra across the Straits of Malacca.
