On the trekking trail to Laban rata, there are 6 shelters build along the way.
The first 3 shelters provide a washroom and water tank to refill your water bottle. The remaining 3 are only benches. During this stage of the climb, it is recommended to wear short pants as they are lighter and more comfortable, the trail is quite steep. Raincoat must be ready at all times as drizzling rain always falls in the mid afternoon due to the altitude. Once you reach Laban Rata, change to your warm clothes for the evening. The next morning, wear face lotion and face mask for the climb to the submit as the atmosphere is quite dry due to the elevation. Once you climb back down to Laban Rata , change to short pants to trail back down to the starting point.

There are locker facilities provided at the Kinabalu park reception where they charge a few Ringgit per bag. Please store those things that you do not want to bring for the climb. They will give you a tag which you will need to claim your bags - MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT LOOSE IT.

*Please bring enough cash as the transactions are cash only.
*It is recommended to use a backpacker bag for the climb.

 


THINGS TO BRING


� Make sure you have good shoes. (Tennis or gym shoes are fine)
� Bring enough warm clothing such as a wind breaker, long sleeve shirts, change of clothes and extra stockings. The temperature can fall to below freezing point at night.
� Pack all clothes in plastic bags to keep them dry in case of rain. Sleeping bags are
� Bring something wind and water-proof.
� Drinking water and high energy food such as chocolate, nuts, raisins, glucose, and fruit
� Headache tablets, sun block, lip gloss, deep heat lotion, plasters, insect repellent,
� Camera, water proof bag, torch/flashlight,
� Towel, gloves, hat mask, tissue paper, personal toiletries, toilet roll, toothpaste, toothbrush, towel, etc.

If you get wet on the way up you will need a complete set of dry clothes and a second pair of shoes or a pair of sandals. Headache tablets, paper tissues, a couple of plastic bags and some plasters for cuts or blisters are all useful.

 



Special Note
It is recommended that all climbers should have themselves medically checked before attempting any mountain climb.
If you have a history of suffering from the following ailments, it is highly recommended that you should refrain from Climbing:

Hypertension, Diabetes, Palpitations, Arthritis, Heart Disease, Severe Anemia, Peptic Ulcer, Epileptic Fits, Obesity/Overweight,
Chronic Asthma, Muscular Cramps, Hepatitis/Jaundice, orthopedic problems; or any other disease or injury which may hamper the climber.
