On the trekking trail to Laban rata, there are 6 shelters build
along the way.
The first 3 shelters provide a washroom and water tank to refill
your water bottle. The remaining 3 are only benches. During this
stage of the climb, it is recommended to wear short pants as they
are lighter and more comfortable, the trail is quite steep. Raincoat
must be ready at all times as drizzling rain
always falls in the mid afternoon due to the altitude. Once you
reach Laban Rata, change to your warm clothes for the evening. The
next morning, wear face lotion and face mask for the climb to the
submit as the atmosphere is quite dry due to the elevation. Once you
climb back down to Laban Rata , change to short pants to trail back
down to the starting point.
There are locker facilities provided at the Kinabalu park reception
where they charge a few Ringgit per bag. Please store those things
that you do not want to bring for the climb. They will give you a
tag which you will need to
claim your bags - MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT LOOSE IT.
*Please bring enough cash as the transactions are cash only.
*It is recommended to use a backpacker bag for the climb.
