Rafflesia Forest Reserve
This reserve devoted to the world�s biggest flower. It lies near the top of the Crocker Range. The Rafflesia is a parasitic plant that is hidden within its host, the stems of the jungle vines, until it bursts into bloom and grows up to 1m in diameter. The Rafflesia Information Centre has interesting displays and information specialising in the Rafflesia. From the centre, trails lead into the forest where the rafflesia are to be found if any are flowering (it's a non-seasonal bloom). 
Location: On Km 52, on the highway from KK (K. Kinabalu) to Tambunan.



Tambunan Plain
Lying S. West of K. Kinabalu, the Tambuan Plain is known for its scenic paddy fields and bamboo groves- the result of a colonial regulation that for every bamboo cut, twenty shoots must be planted. Tambunan is a small agricultural service town. This main town is famous for its �lihing� (rice wine) and the Tambunan Handicraft Centre.

Tambunan can be used as a base to climb Gunung Trus Madi, which is Sabah�s second highest mountain. It rises 3,684 metres above sea level on the eastern side of the plain and offers a much more demanding climb than Mt. Kinabalu.


Tenom
This is the home of friendly Murut peoples, most of whom are farmers. It is a pleasant rural town and is the end of the railway line from Tanjung Aru.

The Sabah Agricultural Park is the major attraction in Tenom. More than 600 orchids are on display at at the Tenom Orchid Centre, Native Orchid Centre and the Hybrid Orchid Centre. The Crop Museum here is actually a plantation of exotic fruits and crops. Others include the Hoya Garden, etc. Overall there are 3,538 plant species including trees, fruit trees and flowers.

If you wish to stay here longer, the Park has chalets facing the man made lake where you can also go fishing, boating or having a picnic with your love ones.

about 15 km from Tenom town.
