Chaiya Mangkalaram
The Buddhist of Thai architecture houses a 33 meter gold-plated
reclining Buddha said to be one of the longest in the world. Behind the
statue are pigeon-holes in which are housed countless urns containing
the ashes of devotees. A pair of serpents� links the balustrades at the
entrance to the interior of the temple, and inside are
many statues covered with gold leaves.

Nattukkotai Temple
This temple, dedicated to the deity, Lord Subramaniam is
featured prominently during the annual Thaipusam festival.

 Kuan
Yin Teng Temple (Goddess of Mercy Temple)
Early immigrant settlers from China built one of the oldest Chinese
temples in Penang, the Kuan Yin Teng or the Goddess of Mercy Temple in
1800. The building is decorated with intricately crafted dragons and
stone lions.
The temple is flocked by worshippers especially during the Goddess�
celebrations in March and October. During this time, puppet shows are
staged in the temple grounds.

 Kek
Lok Si Temple
One of the finest Buddhist temples in South East Asia and the biggest
Buddhist temple in Malaysia, it stands majestically on the hill. Taking
more than 20 years to build, the temple is set in beautiful scenic
surroundings.
It features gardens, a turtle pond, shrines and beautiful
sculptures. The entrance at the foot of the hill takes visitors up 193
steps lined with stalls selling all manner of handicrafts and
bric-a-brac. The temple features the beautifully crafted 30-meter
high �Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddha�s�.

 Snake
Temple
Built in 1850 and dedicated to the deity Chor Soo Kong, it is a
sanctuary for pit vipers said to be the servants of the deity. These
poisonous snakes are thought rendered harmless by the smoke of the
burning incense. However the number of snakes in the temple has
declined over the years.
Location: 3.5Km from the Penang International Airport.
Dharmikarama Burmese Temple
A pair of elephants guards the entrance to this Burmese temple. Within
the pagoda grounds is a Boddhi tree and a wishing pond. It is the scene
of many festivities during the water festival in April.

Sri Mariamman Temple
Built in 1883, this temple housed within its ornately decorated interior
is the priceless statue of Lord Subramaniam, embellished with gold,
silver, diamonds and emeralds.
