 City Hall Esplanade
Once the seat of local government, it was built in the 1880�s. This
stately colonial building is a fine example of British Palladian
architecture featuring magnificent Corinthian columns and huge windows.

Clock Tower
Towering 60 feet high, local millionaire Cheah Chen Eok presented the
clock tower to Penang in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee
of Queen Victoria.
 China Town
China Town is largely well preserved, that you will be intrigued by the
many client houses, shop houses and temples used by the
Chinese immigrant
settlers that came here in the 1800�s.
Location: Weld Quay to Lebuh Stewart, Lebuh Muntri,
Lebuh Campbell and Lebuh King.
 Penang Museum and Art Gallery
Built in 1806, with a statue of Captain Francis Light in the front
courtyard, the Museum houses a fine collection of old photographs, maps,
charts, and other historical relics. There are also Malay daggers
(Kris), Chinese furniture, embroidery and paintings of old Penang. The
art gallery on the first floor displays the works of local artists and
is the venue for special exhibitions.
Opening hours : 9.00am to 5.00pm - Saturday to
Thursday. Closed on Friday.

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion
This mansion of a 19th century rags-to-riches Chinese Mandarin is an
architectural statement of the eclecticism of the times and of Straits
Settlements design and detailing. Carefully restored after a century of
neglect, "La Maison Bleu" has been the location for several films.
Home-stay are offered for short and long-term residential stays in 16
uniquely themed bedroom apartments. These vary in size from the
Scholar's Suite to the Straits Suite and others of equally exotic
disposition.
Fully conducted tours are available at 11.00 am or 3.00 pm Monday to
Friday
and 11.00 am every Saturday and Sunday.

Tua Pek Kong Temple
Former HQ of the Straits Chinese triad �Tua Pek Kong�,
Dr. Sun Tae Sen�s Temporary Base
Location: No 120, Lebuh.
St. George�s Church
Built by the East India Company with convict labor in 1818, it is one of
the oldest landmarks in the city and the oldest Anglican Church in the
country. The entrance features a memorial canopy dedicated to Captain
Francis Light.
Location: Junction of Jalan Masjid India and Lebuh Farquhar
The Esplanade
Situated here is the Cenotaph, a memorial to the victims of World War I
Location: Jalan Tun Syed Sheikh Barakbah.
 Fort Cornwallis
A historical site, built by Captain Francis Light in 1786. Originally a wooden fortress, it was rebuilt later
in stone by convict labor in 1804-5 as the first military and administrative base for the East India Company. It is a rectangular
concrete structure with several canons protruding from its ramparts. The
most famous canon is �Sri Rambai�, sited on the NW corner. The Dutch presented the Canon to the Sultan of Johor but it was given to Acheh Indonesia, and installed in Kuala Selangor in 1871.
The British seized it and installed it in Fort Cornwallis where it remains to this day.
According to old wives� tale, barren women who put flowers in its barrel
can become fertile. Within the compound of the fort are a craft shop, a
replica of a kampung house, an open air auditorium and a bunker. Inside
are bunkers, cells and a charming chapel, the first to be built in Penang. There is also a gallery with old documents and photographs outlining the history of
Penang.

 Kapitan Keling Mosque
Named after the Indian Muslim merchant, the "Kapitan Keling" (headman)
Caudeer Mohudeen who built it in the early 19th century. It features an
ocher yellow facade and dome-shaped minaret reflecting Moorish Islamic
influence. Permission to enter must be obtained from mosque officials.
