Wathiqu Billah, Al-Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Almarhum
Al-Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah Al-Haj
As the 7th sultan
of the state of Terengganu, he was installed as the present 13th
Yang Di Pertuan Agung (Supreme Ruler) of Malaysia on 13th
December 2006.He is the constitutional head of state of
Malaysia.
Sultan Mizan Zainal
Abidin became the youngest Malay ruler when he acceded to the
Terengganu throne at the age of 36 in 1998. He was crowned the
Sultan of Terengganu on 15 May 1998. He was the Deputy Yang Di
Pertuan Agong from 26 April 1999 till he was elected Yang Di
Pertuan Agong, the King of Malaysia.
About the King Born on January 22, 1962, He received
his early education at Sultan Sulaiman Primary School and later
at Sultan Sulaiman Secondary School, Kuala Terengganu. He then
went to further his studies at the prestigious Geelong Grammar
School in Geelong, Australia. In 1988, he finished his studies at
U.S. International University-Europe (now known as Alliant
International University) in London, obtaining his Bachelor of
Arts Degree in International Relationships on 9 June 1988.
He participated in the military course PRE SMC (E) 33 at the Army
School of Languages from 2 November 1982 to 31 May 1983, and then
attended the military course SMC 33 at Royal Military Academy
Sandhurst in England from 3 May 1983, finishing the course of
Cadet Officer on 9 December 1983. He was commissioned to the rank
of Honorary Lieutenant on 1 March 1984 and put in his service in
the Royal Cavalry.
He was appointed the Crown Prince of the State of Terengganu
Darul Iman on 6 November 1979, and much later, the Acting Sultan
of Terengganu from 20 October to 8 November 1990.
Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin married Sultanah Nur Zahirah on 28
March 1996 in Kuala Terengganu. The royal couple has two sons and
two daughters. Princess Tengku Nadhirah Zaharah was born on 18
December 1996, and Tengku Muhammad Ismail was born on 1 March
1998. The other two children are Tengku Muhammad Mua'az, six, and
Tengku Fatimatuz Zahra', four.
A Ruler concerned about the welfare of his subjects, Sultan Mizan
makes efforts to go to all mosques in Terengganu for Friday
prayers to be with the people. His Majesty also continues with
the practice of giving alms to orphans and the poor every Friday
as was done by his late father Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah
Shah.
Sultan Mizan is also active in sports like football, golf,
taekwondo and scuba diving, but due to his busy schedule is only
able to concentrate on equestrian sports.
Career before becoming Sultan On 15 September 1981, he was
appointed as Assistant Land Levy Collector, working for a period
of about a year at the District Land Office in Kuala Terengganu,
prior to his departure overseas to attend the military course in
England. His next appointment on 11 July 1988 was as State
Administrative Officer at the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN)
in Wisma Darul Iman, Kuala Terengganu. Besides working for UPEN,
he was also handling the job of Assistant District Land Officer
at the Kuala Terengganu District Land Office.
He was President of
the Council for Islam and Malay Culture of Terengganu from 1 June
1991 till December 1995.

The Queen
Born Rozita binti Adil Bakeri on
December 7, 1973 in Alor Star, Kedah, she received her primary
school education at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan St. Nicholas'
Convent, and her secondary school education at Sekolah Menengah
Kebangsaan St. Nicholas' Convent, both in Alor Star, Kedah. HRH
was a flight crew 10 years ago.
Married on 28 March 1996, the royal
couple has been blessed with four children; two princesses and
two princes: Their son Tengku Muhammad Ismail (at the age of
eight) was made the Regent of Terengganu on 12 November 2006. Due
to his age, a three-member Regency Advisory Council was set-up to
discharge the duties
on behalf of the Regent.
