Melaka�s Sultanate Palace
This wooden replica of a Malay palace from Melaka�s past is built with
detail and refinement. It houses the cultural museum of Melaka.

Jebat�s Mausoleum
Hang Jebat, the warrior who was unceremoniously killed by Hang Tuah in a
duel of honor that supposedly was to have lasted three days and three
nights. He ran amok in the name of justice to avenge the Sultan�s hasty
punishment against his friend Hang Tuah, for a crime he didn�t commit.
Hang Jebat was accused by Hang Tuah of �durhaka� (contumancy/ treason) and
was killed after suffering a fatal wound from Hang Tuah's mystical dagger
�keris Taming Sari� (similar to King Arthur�s mythical sword
Excalibur). The duel between two of Melaka�s most prominent warriors has
left a permanent question as to the moral behind Hang Jebat�s apparent
reaction against authority and, the conventions by which Hang Tuah
exercised his conduct as a loyal subject of the Sultan.
Hang Li Poh�s Well
Built in 1459, by the followers of Hang Li Poh, the Chinese princess who
married a Sultan of Melaka, the well was the only source of water supply
during great droughts.
The Dutch enclosed it with stout walls in 1677 to maintain its ultimate
right to the well. It has been turned into a wishing well and it is said
that those that throw coins in it will return to Melaka.

China
�Chinese Hill� was the official settlement of the Chinese entourage that
arrived with Hang Li Poh. She was sent to Melaka by the Emperor to marry
the Sultan to mark the advent of diplomatic relations between Melaka and
China. Today it is the largest Chinese cemetery outside of China with many
tombs dating back to the Ming Dynasty.
Though dubbed as the biggest cemetery outside China', it now serves more
like a park with locals jogging or practicing tai chi in the evenings.
The Baba and Nonya�s Heritage House
�Straits Chinese� or the Baba and Nonya, are Chinese of noble descendants
whom have adopted much of the Malay culture into theirs. Their unique
heirloom and artifacts are housed in this private museum run by the Baba�s
and Nonya�s of Melaka.
