Ferry � Br Air �
There are frequent daily ferry services from ferry terminals at Kuala Kedah and Kuala
Perlis to Pulau Langkawi (Langkawi Island). A one-way ride takes about an hour. There are dependable express
bus coaches from Kuala Lumpur and other major cities to Kuala Kedah and Kuala Perlis.
Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia flies daily from Kuala Lumpur. KTM (Keretapi Tanah Melayu or Malaysia Train) also
operates the Langkawi Express rail service. For those who are travelling
from Thailand, there's only two choices, to take the flight or the ferry
from Satun in Thailand
By Road
For those who are driving down from Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Singapore, and
other places on main land, you may choose the nearest Jetty Terminal.
There are signboards indicating the junctions to get off the highway. On
reaching Kedah State, look for the sign "Alor Setar" and Kuala Perlis
or Kuala Kedah or "Langkawi".
After reaching, Kuala Kedah or Kuala Perlis, you may park your car at
the private car park which will cost around RM 6 / 8 per day. Vehicle
can only be brought over to Langkawi via cargo vessel (at RM 160.00
return) which will take 1 night to cross over, meaning the vehicle can
only by retrieve the next day at Langkawi Port (Tanjung Lembung). From
Singapore, Johor and Kuala Lumpur, there're buses running daily to
Alor
Setar / Kuala Kedah.
By Train
There's another option is by train, KTM (Keretapi Tanah Melayu ) which
start it's journey from Singapore interchange at Kuala Lumpur all the
way down to Alor Star Train Station and Arau. Train services by Malayan
Railway provide a comfortable ride from Kuala Lumpur to Alor Setar and
Arau. From these stations, take a taxi or bus to Kuala Kedah or Kuala
Perlis followed by a ferry ride to the island

By Ferry
Kuah is Langkawi's main town and port where ferries anchor.
Ferries are running daily every 30 mins from 7.00 am - 7.00 pm

By Air
The Langkawi International Airport at Padang Mat Sirat is about 20km
from Kuah and 8km form the beach resorts in Pantai Cenang. From
Kuala
Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Malaysian Airlines flies on a daily
basis and Air Asia five times weekly. Firefly (a Malaysian airline
subsidiary) currently flies daily to Langkawi from
Subang airport which
is located close to KL Langkawi). Silk Air also flies regularly from
Singapore to the island. There are also direct international flights to
and from Langkawi.

Transport in Langkawi
The best way to get around is by rental car or by taxi
Taxis cost around RM20 per ride from Pantai Cenang (or the airport) to
Kuah Town and fares to the more distant Tanjung Rhu and Datai will incur
further charges. With just a few roads to choose from, all excellently
signposted and maintained, it is unlikely you will get lost.
