Drive
75 km north along the Crocker Range to Kota Belud, the horsy capital
of the
Bajau community.
Visit the biggest open-air 'Tamu'
(Market) in North Borneo. Handicrafts and livestock, ranging
from poultry to goats and water buffaloes,
are sold alongside with
local native hinterlands products.
A weekly social event for
the rural folk, the Tamu' is of socio-historical significance and
provides good photo-opportunities to capture some of Borneo's
cultural heritage.

farmers of the narrow Kiulu Valley. Visit a native market and tour a
gloriously unspoilt scenery of terraced rice fields, bamboos, and

flowing over a stoney bed, spanned by suspension bridges.

around, the steep, lush green slopes of the Crocker Range
foothills.

Drive to Mengkabong water village, home to the Bajau fishermen whose houses are built on stilts over the water. Explore the village on foot. Proceed to Tuaran past scenic countryside, padifields and water buffaloes and visit the local market. Continue to Tamparuli and try your balancing skill across Sabah's longest suspension bridge
before tour concludes.

ITINERARY
DAY 1
Travel 1� hours North across the Crocker Range to the land of the Bajaus at Kota Belud. Visit the colourful local market and buffalo market (Sunday only).
Continue 70 km towards Kudat to one of the village longhouses. Witness life inside the longhouse and mingle with ladies in traditional sarongs and foot-long bracelets.
Observe how they adapt to the change of time.
Proceed to Paradise beach for a swim before check in at longhouse.
Dinner followed by a Rungus cultural dance.
Overnight in twin bed room at traditional longhouse.
Mattress and mosquito net are provided.

DAY 2
Wake up to the calls of roosters and tranquility of the village.
After breakfast, visit a local village and observe the making of traditional gongs before we continue our drive back to Kota Kinabalu.
Enroute we stop at Mengkabong water village.
