Miri�s best offer is the fantastic opportunities for divers. Divers, from
beginners to those who have dived all the world famous spots, have nothing
but praise for the reefs around Miri. The reefs here are all patch reefs
with varying depths from 7 to 30 meters with average visibility of 10 to
30 meters
 These
include coral reefs, WWII shipwreck, drop-off, unspoiled shallow reefs
with a huge diversity of pelagic and corals. North & South Luconia shoals,
located approximately 120 nautical miles North NE from Miri - These reefs
form a chain, bordering a few hundred square miles. Sightings of giant
Manta Ray are common. Fantastic wall dives. Drop-off to 1000 ft and
beyond. Breathtaking visibility
The variety of corals and other marine life on the reefs rivals the best
in the region. Hard and soft corals cover the entire reefs. Gorgonians,
sea-whips, anemones, sponges and crinoids are abundant. Reef fish like the
angel fish, butterfly fish, fusiliers, groupers, stingrays, trigger fish,
parrot fish, wrasses are among the numerous species that can be seen. 40
species of nudibranchs have already been sighted.
POPULAR DIVE SITES
GROUPER PATCH
Giant groupers inhabit this 60-foot reef. Spiny lobsters are also another
inhabitant together with yellow tails and other schooling fishes.
TUKAU DROP-OFF
An exciting reef that drops from 65 to 130 feet. At the vertical wall
schooling jacks, barracudas, Napoleon Wrasses, yellow tails fusiliers, and
large groupers are always around to greet you. Occasionally sharks and
trumpet fish can be seen.
SANTAK POINT
The average visibility here is 100-feet or more. Large gorgonian fans of
6-feet in size are all over the top of the reef at 70-feet. The reef
extends drops to 110-feet.
SUNDAY REEF
Large varieties of hard corals make up this 35 to 50 foot reef.

BATU BELAIS REEF
A picturesque reef with gorgonian trees and sea fans. Batfishes are common
among the long swaying sea whips. This is a photographer's heaven.
SEAFAN GARDEN
A unique reef of 50-feet in depth that provides an excellent environment
for an amazing variety of gorgonian sea fans and sea whips. The Schooling
batfish always curiously watch over the divers.
ANEMONE GARDEN
One of the most interesting reefs with a depth range of 30 to 50 feet.
Both hard and soft corals thrive here. You wouldn't miss the anemones and
their symbiotic clown fishes. You will also find bubble corals, anchor
corals and the colourful dendronepthya soft corals. Others like feather
stars, giant clams, Nudibranchs and schooling yellow tails are plentiful.
EVE'S GARDEN
This shallow reef of just 20 to 40 feet is carpeted with soft corals such
as leather corals, elephant's ear and dead man's fingers. Giant anemones
and clown fishes are all over the reef. The schooling yellow tail
fusiliers and angelfishes also characterise this reef.
ATAGO MARU WRECK
A Second World War Japanese wreck just off Lutong. The 300-foot ship is
sitting upright with the top deck just 30-feet from the surface.
Visibility is not always good and depends very much on the weather and
tide. Most of the hull is covered with cave corals. A 130-pound giant
grouper has made its home here. Large trevally and barracudas are
frequently seen.
