islands that form the Langkawi archipelago. The 3 inhabited islands are
Pulau Tuba, Pulau Rebak Besar and Pulau Rebak Kecil. The others are
mainly uninhabited, little more than rocky outcrops separated by narrow
channels with coral reefs, a diverse marine life and unusual wildlife.
Pulau Tuba
Undeveloped, this island is still a
natural habitat to wildlife, on land,
under the water and in the treetops.
A mountainous island with very little lowland, the island of Pulau Tuba,
about five kilometres south of Langkawi island, is the natural habitat
for an interesting selection of wildlife. Undeveloped and undisturbed,
with barely enough space for the dirt track that surrounds the island,
it's a good place to see wildlife, up close and personal. Pulau Tuba
allows visitors to experience traditional fishing village life with
fishermen returning home in the evenings in their quaint fishing boats.
Go hiking or bird watching, or find a deserted beach or two to get a
glimpse of some elusive creatures.
Staying There
Pulau Tuba is the only other island that offers accommodation but
visitors
should note there is only one place to stay - the Sunrise Beach Resort.
Pulau Rebak

Rebak Besar (Big Rebak Island), the main island and frequently referred
to as Pulau Rebak and the other smaller Pulau Rebak Kecil (Small Rebak
Island).
Rebak's attractions are lovely white sandy beaches, a lush tropical
interior
filled with with tropical birds and an old fashioned rustic charm. The
island is named after the Rebak tree or, as another version would put it
- named because Rebak Besar resembles a traditional Malay drum or 'rebak'.

accommodation provided by the Rebak Marina Resort. Pulau Rebak Besar
Island measures around 390 acres and commands a magnificent view of the
Straits of Melaka bordering the Andaman Sea.

passing yachts to stay for the season. On the island is a small marina

Langkawi, Rebak retains an unspoiled beauty and allure despite its easy
access from Pantai Cenang. Take a leisurely stroll along the beach at
low tide and walk across to the island of Pulau Rebak Kecil close by,
remembering you'll have to make tracks for home not too long after as
the tide only stays low for about two hours. Boats are available for

 Pulau Bumbon Pulau Tiloi,
Pulau Intan Besar Pulau Intan Kechil
The islands mentioned here are
islands close enough to take a day trip
snorkelling or simply island hopping.
Pulau Bumbon
Ten minutes from the Kuah jetty, Pulau Bumbon offers pleasant beaches.
You can get there by booking a day trip. A quiet and deserted island.
Pulau Tiloi
More recently known as Pulau Bunga (Island of Flowers), this island
brings the beauty of tropical flowers through a project managed by the
Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI),
transforming the island into a floral paradise. There are gardens shaded
by lofty trees displaying their scents and kaleidoscope of colours.
Pulau
Intan Besar
This is an island modern-day Robinson Crusoes would love to disappear
to. Forest-clad and uninhabited, there are massive ancient trees
covering the central part of the island, while coconut palms line the
beaches. It is ideal as a quiet retreat for bird-loving naturalists.
Pulau Intan Kechil
Like its 'big sister' island, this island is also uninhabited, with a
pristine white sandy beach and translucent waters to lure visitors.
Great to spend a day at, it is only about 50 minutes by boat from Kuah
Jetty.
