Malaysia's
second oldest Golf Club, it grew with Kuala Lumpur and
underwent its own trials and tribulations, just as the city
did. Being
less than 5 minutes by car from the famous modern Twin Towers
in Kuala Lumpur, it is known as Kelab
Golf Diraja Selangor in the Malay language.
Ideally
situated near all the hotels, the Club is easily accessible
from all parts of the city. It was only in 1962 that the word
"Royal" was added. It was founded in 1893 by a group
of colonial administrators (coffee planters) and in 1920
relocated to this present site. During the Japanese
occupation, the fairways were turned into barracks and
plantation. It was reopened in 1948 and since then until 1990s
it was "the club" in Selangor, until the wave of new
modern golf courses with special bermuda fairway grass begin
to populate the country.
