Every weekend, starting from 2pm on Saturday afternoon , continuing right through to 12noon on Sunday afternoon, the streets of "Satok" come alive. Native women from the many villages in the outskirts of Kuching city, carry their fruits and vegetable in big native woven baskets down to "Satok" road. With their colourful umbrellas poised to protect them from the heat of the day, and their fruits and vegetables spread on the native mats on the streets, the women get ready to do a roaring business with the housewives of Kuching city. Chinese and Malay traders set up their poultry, beef, flowers, prawn, fish, cake and fruit stalls to catch a part of the action.
