Bukit Merah Laketown Resort
Bukit Merah Laketown Resort is the premier theme resort in the northern part of Peninsula Malaysia. The resort, fronts a scenic lake renowned for fishing and offers many attractions and facilities such as a water park, eco-sanctuary and the only orang Utan sanctuary in peninsula Malaysia - 'Orang Utan island'. The resort has a range of accommodation facilities, ranging from Service Apartments, Waterfront villas, Resort homes and water villages.

The Bukit Merah Lake with its scenic lake view is an ideal location for total relaxation in the midst of a peaceful environment or a fun getaway with family and friends.

Among the exciting water activities highlights are the giant wave pool, games pool, adult and children's slow river rides, kid's water playground, giant bubble, three giant water flume rides, three raft tube rides and twin speed slides. Equipment such as boogie boards, floating tubes and other water play equipment can be purchased or hired from the "Surf Shack Shop".

Orang Utan Island
Boats leave every half an hour for the 10-minute ride across the lake to the island. Here these intelligent primates literally have the run of the place. Visitors go through a 100m-long “cage tunnel” to get a close and personal look at the orang utans as they roam free here. There are 19 orang utans on the island at present, with four of them being born here. Here you can have the orang utans pose with with for pictures.

Only a small part of the island is used as a rehabilitation and preservation facility. This program aims to develop and promote orang utan conservation, propagation, research education and eco-tourism by making the island into a breeding sanctuary for these animals.

The average rehabilitation programme takes up to five years. Here baby orang utans are how to climb trees and forage for food in the wild. Future plans foresee these primates roaming the currently unused part of the island that is ‘wild’. This would be the ultimate test for the rehabilitated orang utans - to be able to survive in the jungle without any human intervention.

The Ecopark
This 3-acre area houses birds, reptiles and primates in enclosures created to closely resemble their natural habitats. Visitors may buy animal feed at the entrance for the various animals here such as the deer, monkeys or macaws. Visitors tour the park on an elevated boardwalk that winds its way through the jungle canopy. On the Tropical Trek, watch out for the playful squirrel monkeys that roam freely. At the Reptile Park, iguanas bask under the sun as you walk past them. You will also get to look at the honey bears lazing under the sun.

The Pet’s Park, is a section of the Ecopark is where visitors especially children can play with the animals. These include deer, tiny pet mice, white rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and goats. There is also an animal show, where the stars of the show – macaws named Tango (a predominantly blue-feathered bird) and Oni (red), performed a variety of tricks.

Chairlift & Skycycle
Not to be missed is The Skycycle, an elevated monorail through the tree canopy. The only way to move the bright yellow car is to turn the pedals with your hands! Here, you are at the same level as the treetops and looking down, you can see chickens, goats and deer on the ground. It is fun way to explore the rainforest.

To get to the waterpark, the best way is the Chairlift ride that transports you high over the water park for some breathtaking views of the resort. This is the only such ride in Malaysia, and you can see the different water rides waiting for you to enjoy. Takes you 600 metres across the Waterpark, and takes about 10 minutes to travel from one end to the other and visitors get a return ride on one ticket

o There are 10 water attractions in Laketown Waterpark, and the newest ride is the V-shaped ‘Boomerang’, the only one in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, where riders slide down from a height of 15 feet. The Giant Wet Bubble offers tremendous fun, as do the Tube and Body Slides, Lazy River and the Giant Wave Pool. Small children have their own fun pool.
